Naira Marley Tormented My Son — Mohbad’s Dad
Mohbad’s Father Insists Late Singer Was Bullied Despite Naira Marley’s Denial
Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad), has reignited discussions surrounding his son’s troubled career and tragic death.
Speaking with Sunday Scoop, Aloba maintained that Mohbad endured bullying and mistreatment while alive — a position that directly contradicts claims by former Marlian Music boss, Naira Marley, who recently denied any wrongdoing.
Naira Marley, in a recent interview, said he only tried to “guide” Mohbad after noticing the singer’s alleged use of illicit substances.
But Aloba recalled visiting Marley in an effort to settle disputes raised by his son. He said the encounter only reinforced his belief that Mohbad was being mistreated, adding that one of Marley’s associates even confided in him that the label boss had physically assaulted the singer.
“When we went to see him to apologise, he wasn’t even speaking respectfully. People assume I went there to collect money, but life is beyond just what I want to eat,” Aloba said.

On allegations of Mohbad using unfamiliar accounts for financial dealings, Aloba confirmed that the issue existed. He noted that Marley had once complained that the singer received money through an account not in his name — a matter Aloba said he also observed.
“I warned him that anything he wanted to give me should come from his own account,” he added.
