May Edochie slams Ugwuonye with ₦1bn lawsuit
May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has filed a legal complaint against her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, accusing him of defamation, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
In a cease-and-desist letter served by her legal representatives, Graylaw Partners, May alleged that Ugwuonye has consistently shared damaging and untrue statements about her on social media.
The letter described his conduct as a targeted campaign of harassment, ridicule, and malicious attacks that not only smeared her image but also put her safety at risk. “These posts are a calculated assault on our client’s reputation and have further imperiled her safety through threats and false claims. Beyond your publications, you have encouraged others to amplify these attacks, worsening the harm,” the notice stated.
Through her lawyers, May is demanding that Ugwuonye immediately stop making defamatory remarks, retract all existing posts, and publish a public apology across his platforms.
