Backlash Trails Taye Currency’s Song at Ladoja’s Coronation
Many Nigerians have criticised fuji star Taye Currency over his performance at the coronation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the new Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The singer, who was the guest performer at the historic event on Saturday, sparked outrage with the lyric: “were la fi n wo were” — meaning “we used insanity to cure insanity.”
The controversial line quickly pushed Taye Currency into the top trends on X (formerly Twitter), with many branding his choice of words inappropriate for such a solemn occasion.
