Yomi Fabiyi: I’m Like a Father to Imisi
Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yomi Fabiyi has clarified that his public support for Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Imisi, was born out of genuine loyalty and gratitude, not personal or financial gain.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, Fabiyi explained that his relationship with Imisi began long before her rise to fame on BBNaija, describing himself as a father figure to her in the movie industry.
“I am an adult and like a father to her in the film industry. She was the only housemate I knew personally. Everything I do, she supports.
For instance, when I had my housewarming, she stayed throughout and made sure the event went well. Supporting her during the show was simply the right thing to do,” he said.
Fabiyi also revealed that Imisi started her entertainment journey as one of his students at his film academy, and over the years, she has remained supportive of both him and his son.

“Imisi was one of my students at my film academy, and beyond that, she has always been supportive of me and my son. We used to live in the same area in Ikorodu, and she’s been helpful long before the fame,” he added.
When asked if he was ever concerned about publicly backing her — especially considering that some people he had supported in the past had later distanced themselves — Fabiyi said he doesn’t let such experiences shape his decisions.
“I don’t think about things like that. Of course, in today’s social media world, some people distance themselves from those who helped them just to appear self-made. They don’t want anyone to have bragging rights over their success,” he explained.
Despite this, Fabiyi maintained that he remains unbothered by ingratitude, stressing that he will continue to do what he believes is right.
“No matter the level of ingratitude, I don’t let it get to me. I’ll keep doing what’s right,” he concluded.
