Singer John Mai Molo Dies After Suspected Poisoning
Renowned traditional musician John Zuya, popularly known by his stage name John Mai Molo, has reportedly passed away after allegedly consuming poisoned food in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Zuya, who had recently returned from Lagos on October 16, 2025, following a series of cultural performances, was said to have fallen ill shortly after eating the suspected meal. Witnesses said he collapsed soon afterward.
He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi, where medical personnel confirmed his death.

Confirming the incident, fellow musician and close associate Emma Wakili shared the news in a Facebook post, revealing that Zuya died around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
His remains have been placed in the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
