Tonto Dikeh: Depression Led Me to Spiritual Healing
Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has opened up about her spiritual journey, sharing how the Holy Spirit helped her overcome seven personal battles that once shaped her life.
In an emotional Instagram post, the mother of one recounted her transformation from emotional turmoil to inner peace, describing it as a divine process that reshaped her heart and habits.
Dikeh revealed she once struggled with uncontrollable anger, which strained relationships and opportunities.
“There was a time I had a fuse so short it could set everything ablaze. I mistook my pain for strength, but it was only destroying me,” she said, adding that true change came when she surrendered fully to God.
The actress also spoke about her battles with depression and emotional pain, even admitting to suicidal thoughts in the past.
“I was living as both the wound and the weapon. Depression was my companion; I wore pain like a second skin until God said, ‘Rise,’ and I did.”

Tonto noted that her healing taught her to approach others with empathy rather than judgment, and she has turned away from sexual immorality, embracing celibacy as part of her renewed faith.
Reflecting on her spiritual journey, she said:
“I gave my life to Christ after secondary school but took His love for granted. Life humbled me, and through that pain, I returned to my first love, God.”
