Erigga Says Polygamy Harms Women and Children
Popular Nigerian rapper Erigga has shared his candid views on polygamy, describing it as a practice that causes emotional harm, particularly to women and children.
Speaking during an interview with Yanga FM Lagos, the Warri-born artiste reflected on his personal experience growing up in a polygamous family. He explained that such family structures often lead to tension, resentment, and lasting emotional damage.
“I am trying not to be like my father. I don’t like polygamy; one person always gets hurt, and that person is usually the woman,” Erigga said.
“There’s never a polygamous situation where the man gets hurt. It’s always the woman and the kids.”
Erigga noted that his upbringing shaped his views on relationships, adding that he now prefers monogamy, which he believes offers a healthier and more fulfilling dynamic for all involved.
