Collab tough for Wizkid, Davido, Burna – Ubi Franklin
Nigerian music executive Ubi Franklin has weighed in on the dynamic between Afrobeats megastars Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, often referred to as the genre’s “Big 3.”
Speaking on a recent episode of the Afropolitan Podcast, Franklin argued that a collaboration among the three would be unlikely, noting that their stature in the industry positions them more as rivals than collaborators.
“It would be difficult for Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy to come together,” Franklin said. “I will speak for Davido—I’ve never heard him say anything negative about Wizkid or Burna Boy, and I’m sure it’s the same for them. But the industry environment makes it difficult for them to work together.”
The talent manager compared their rivalry to competition in the banking sector, where leading institutions battle for dominance despite operating in the same space.

He further emphasized that any tension among the trio is largely entertainment-driven, insisting that within Davido’s inner circle, there has never been gossip or hostility directed at his peers.
“In every industry, there’s always a ‘Big 3,’ just like with Nigeria’s top banks,” Franklin explained, suggesting that competition is inevitable at the top.
