Davido Named Chairman of Osun Sports Fund
Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been appointed Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund.
The appointment was announced by the Osun State Government on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, as part of efforts to revitalise and modernise the state’s sports sector.
According to the statement, Davido’s new role is designed to mobilise resources for the development and upgrading of sports facilities across the state.
The government said the move underscores Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to youth empowerment and sports-driven development.
Confirming the appointment, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, who also serves as Commissioner for Sports, said the award-winning singer was excited about the role and accepted it immediately.
“The ongoing rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards will be completed soon. We are also finalising plans to establish the Osun State Sports Commission to oversee sports development and policy implementation,” Adewusi stated.
He explained that the newly created Sports Trust Fund, chaired by Davido, will attract investments and support from philanthropists and sports enthusiasts within and outside the state to ensure sustainable funding.

“Davido’s involvement is expected to draw substantial contributions that will significantly impact the growth of sports in Osun,” he added.
Governor Adeleke’s administration reaffirmed its commitment to making sports a key pillar of youth development and community engagement in the state.
