Director Pink: I Quit Acting Over Sex-for-Role Demands
Nigerian music video director and cinematographer, Praise Onyeagwalam, popularly known as Director Pink, has opened up on why she abandoned her dreams of becoming an actress.
In an interview with Hip TV, the award-winning director revealed that the humiliation and sexual exploitation faced by many aspiring actors pushed her to leave the acting industry. She recounted the frustration of waiting in long queues for auditions, only to receive inappropriate invitations from male filmmakers to questionable locations.
“I wanted to be an actress, but the humiliation was too much. Standing on endless lines, getting those shady ‘come to this location’ calls… I said no. That’s when I decided to become my own boss,” she shared.
