Drama on set: Yemi Solade apologizes to Afeez Owo after slap

Nollywood producer, Afeez Owo, has responded to the public apology recently tendered by veteran actor, Yemi Solade, over an incident that occurred years ago on a movie set.

During a past interview, Solade had openly admitted to slapping Afeez on set and expressed regret, noting that he had also spoken with some industry colleagues about the matter.

Speaking on the African A-List podcast, Afeez confirmed he had accepted the apology, describing Solade as an elder he still respects.

“After I saw his apology, I decided to let it go. Even if he hadn’t apologized, I wouldn’t hold it against him. It’s like an elder brother disciplining his younger one—even when the elder is wrong, the younger is often expected to apologize,” Afeez explained.

Recalling the circumstances, Afeez said he was the production manager at the time and responsible for the welfare of the cast and crew. While relocating from a set in Ibadan to another site in a Fulani resettlement area, he had asked everyone to list their needs so he could make arrangements. According to him, Solade misunderstood the situation and, out of frustration, slapped him when he became hungry.

Despite the unpleasant memory, Afeez stressed that he holds no grudge and has fully moved on.
