Hilda Baci Wraps Up Record Jollof Rice Feat

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has successfully completed her Guinness World Record attempt for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice, an achievement unveiled in the early hours of Saturday at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Akwa Ibom-born star revealed that the massive dish was prepared with 4,000kg of basmati rice, 500 cartons of tomato concentrate, 750kg of oil, and 600kg of onions, all simmered in a custom-made six-metre steel pot.

Baci explained that while the initial plan targeted 250 bags of rice, the figure was later adjusted to 200 bags to avoid exceeding the 20,000kg weight limit of the measuring equipment.

Ten assistants, dressed in red uniforms, worked alongside her with giant paddles to stir the pot, while DJs and live performers kept the lively crowd entertained.

The festival, tagged “Gino World Jollof Festival,” drew a host of dignitaries and celebrities, including Ogun State First Lady Bamidele Abiodun, Funke Akindele, Bambam, Tomike Adeoye, Alex Unusual, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, TikTok star Peller, and Afrobeats singer Spyro.

Speaking at the event, Funke Akindele praised Baci’s resilience, telling women to embrace ambition:
“You can look beautiful, but you must hustle and do something special for yourself,” she said to loud applause.
