My name? Just a lie, no meaning – Nasty C
South African rapper David Junior Ngcobo, widely known by his stage name Nasty C, has revealed plans to change the name that brought him global fame.
In a candid conversation with Madame Joyce in London, the Coolest Kid in Africa hitmaker admitted that his stage name has no real meaning and was simply a random combination of letters.
When asked about the origin of “Nasty C,” the rapper confessed that he had previously fabricated a backstory. He used to claim that his first producer nicknamed him “Nasty Cat”, from which he derived his current name by dropping the “AT.”

“It’s random. I just put a bunch of letters together and started making words out of them until I picked that one,” he explained. “There’s a story I used to tell people—that the first guy to record me called me ‘Nasty Cat’—but that was a lie. I just wanted to give the name a story and acknowledge him because he really did help me at the start of my career. The truth is, the name is just a vibe. Now, I want to change it.”
The rapper did not disclose what his new stage name might be, but hinted that he is ready for a fresh identity as he continues to evolve musically.
