“You have to identify your audience. Once you identify your audience, the rest of the world will catch up eventually,” Olamide said.
“I have to stay true to myself no matter where it is, what it is. I’m comfortable in my skin. I’m a Naija guy, Yoruba boy, I have H-factor and all that — and I’m proud about it.”
The YBNL boss, known for pioneering indigenous rap in Nigeria, added that authenticity has always been the foundation of his artistry and longevity.
Olamide’s remarks reaffirm his reputation as one of the few artists who have maintained strong cultural roots while achieving mainstream success across Africa and beyond.
