Phyna Faults Dangote Group in Sister’s Death
Big Brother Naija winner, Phyna Otabor, has accused Dangote Group of negligence and insensitivity in the handling of matters surrounding the death and burial of her sister, Ruth Otabor.
In a series of Instagram posts, Phyna alleged that her sister’s death was not only tragic but also “calculated and planned.” She accused Dangote Group of failing to fully cover medical and burial expenses despite publicly announcing support for the family.
According to her, while the company settled bills at Lagoon Hospital, Lagos, the family had to bear additional costs from Auchi to Irrua.
“The bills from Auchi down to Irrua were covered by the family; no refund has been made,” she lamented.
Phyna further claimed that on September 13th, the day of Ruth’s burial, Dangote representatives could not be reached despite assurances that expenses had been settled.
She also shared a letter allegedly drafted by the company and sent to her father, asking him to sign an acknowledgment of receipt for burial funds. Phyna described the move as “impersonation” and an attempt to manipulate the narrative.

“You killed my sister, did massive PR, gave the girl’s papa money for burial, then still by yourself wrote an acknowledgement letter impersonating my father and sent it to him to sign,” she alleged.
Phyna accused the conglomerate of lacking transparency and respect in its dealings with her family, questioning why such a high-profile company would engage in actions she described as deceptive.
