Phyna: No One Can Tell Me How to Grieve

Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has addressed the backlash she received for partying shortly after the burial of her younger sister, Ruth Otabor.

Phyna lost her sister in August following a tragic accident involving a Dangote truck, and she was laid to rest in September. However, the reality TV star came under fire recently after a viral video showed her clubbing with Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, sparking accusations from some social media users who claimed she had “moved on too quickly.”

While Regina Daniels had earlier defended Phyna and urged the public not to judge people for how they grieve, Phyna had remained silent on the matter — until now.

Taking to her X (Twitter) account, the outspoken media personality shared an emotional message, stressing that grief is deeply personal and cannot be measured by public expectations.

“Grief has no manual, no fixed face, and no timetable. The fact that I choose to keep living, smiling, or sharing moments does not erase the pain I carry. Respect the process, even if you do not understand it. If you cannot extend compassion, then at least extend silence,” she wrote.

Phyna’s response has since stirred fresh conversations online, with many fans praising her for speaking up about the individual nature of mourning.
