Seyi Law: Nigerians Are Hungry
Popular Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has expressed deep concern over the worsening economic situation in the country, calling on political leaders to be transparent about the impact of ongoing reforms on citizens.
Speaking during an appearance on the Inside The Box podcast, Seyi Law said the growing frustration among Nigerians is being fueled by widespread hunger and the soaring cost of living.
“Nigerians are hungry, and hungry people are angry people. I feel the pain too. I hate when we try to switch such things under the carpet, which is what politicians do. I don’t like it,” he said.
“Let us acknowledge the people’s pain and let them know that this reform is coming with this pain, but hopefully there will be a relief at the end.”
The comedian shared how the economic downturn has affected his personal life, particularly the financial strain of supporting his wife and children who live in the United Kingdom.

“My family has been in the UK since 2019. For every naira that I change to pounds, it costs me ₦2000. It wasn’t what it was costing me before. If I was spending ₦2 million before, I have to spend ₦5 million now, so it comes with pain,” he explained.
Despite the challenges, Seyi Law expressed hope that the current economic hardship will eventually produce positive outcomes—provided that leaders remain open, honest, and empathetic to the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
