Williams Uchemba Demands Kidnappers’ Public Execution
Nollywood actor Williams Uchemba has urged the Nigerian government to enforce public executions for convicted kidnappers, describing visible and decisive punishment as the only effective deterrent against the country’s rising abduction cases.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Uchemba expressed frustration over what he perceives as the government’s failure to implement existing laws on capital punishment. He argued that the absence of strict consequences emboldens criminals to commit kidnappings with impunity.
Citing China as an example, the actor noted that the Asian nation maintains the death penalty for serious crimes, including kidnapping and corruption, a policy he believes contributes to its low crime rate.

“The capital punishment for kidnapping is death, yet when offenders are arrested, we hardly hear what happens afterwards. If you ask me, there should even be a dedicated TV channel showing the arrest and public execution of convicted kidnappers. Until real consequences are enforced, nothing will change,” Uchemba said.
His comments come amid a spike in kidnapping incidents across Nigeria, particularly with the festive season approaching, a period often associated with increased criminal activity.
Uchemba urged authorities to act decisively, insisting that firm and public enforcement of justice would deter crime and restore public confidence in the legal system.
